About Me
I am a recent retiree from the California State Employees’ Association where I worked for 30 years. I don’t have any children, and my husband is 11 years older than I am. I first bought long-term care insurance when I was in my early 40’s through my employer because I want to make sure that I would be cared for and I want to control my care if I ever need it. Long-term care insurance has been an affordable choice for me, both when I was sponsored by my employer and now that I’m retired and pay for the premium myself.

Melanie King — My Video

My name is Melanie King.

And this is My Story

I was born and raised in southern Illinois and when I was 20 years old I moved to California, and then retired when I was 50. So I’m a happy retiree.

This is My Choice

I took advantage of long-term care insurance because it was very affordable. I bought it when it was first offered by the company, and I was in my early 40s.

Right now it’s very affordable for me because I made that decision when I was young enough to lock it in at a reasonable rate.

This is My Advice

At least you know that with long-term care, it provides for a facility or for in-home care. You know that you have that available. If you do it when you’re young enough it’s very, very affordable.

Long-term care is definitely one of the ways to go.
